Delete your account & data
Last updated: September 14, 2026
You can ask us to delete your UnKlaimed account and the personal information associated with it at any time. This page explains how to request deletion, what gets deleted, and what we may be required to keep.
Request deletion
Use either method — you do not need the app installed:
- In the app: open Account → Delete account and confirm. (If you don't see this option, use the email method below.)
- By email: send a request to privacy@getunklaimed.com from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account and data."
We may ask you to verify your identity before deleting, to protect your account and the sensitive claim information in it.
What gets deleted
When we complete your request, we delete or de-identify the personal information tied to your account, including your contact details, date of birth, Social Security number or Tax ID, uploaded identity and supporting documents, and account login. Your payment method is removed from our payment processor (Stripe).
What we may keep
Some information can't be deleted right away:
- Claims already filed with a state. Once a claim has been submitted to a state unclaimed-property agency, that filing and the records supporting it belong to the state's process, and we retain the minimum records needed to complete the claim and meet legal and record-keeping obligations.
- Records we're legally required to keep — for example, financial, tax, fraud-prevention, and compliance records — which we retain for the period required by law and then delete or de-identify.
If you have a claim in progress, deleting your account may end our ability to complete it on your behalf.
How long it takes
We process deletion requests within 30 days. If anything is retained under the exceptions above, we delete or de-identify it once the applicable retention period ends.
